Teenagers’ Tube station attack on ex-ambassador ‘shocking’, says his wife as she hits out at London’s crime rate

The wife of Sir Christopher Meyer, who was brutally attacked in broad daylight as he took the Tube, has said growing violence is making people scared to go out in London.

The 74-year-old former ambassador to the US is now recovering in hospital with a suspected broken nose and tendon damage from being punched and scratched.

His wife Catherine, Baroness Meyer, told the Telegraph that Sir Christopher was attacked while taking the Tube to a think tank at 3.30pm at Victoria station.

A boy and girl, aged 16 and 15, have been arrested in connection with the assault.
